Coleman was a Lancashire resident born in Blackpool. She attended Arnold School in Blackpool. In her time as headgirl, she scored straight A grades for her A Levels. Steven Moffat, the producer of Doctor Who confirmed in a 21st March press conference in 2012 that Coleman will be Matt Smith's character after Karen Gillan left. Moffat selected her for the part because she was the most effective in her interactions with Smith and could speak more rapidly than him. In the latter, she even received two nominations for the Daytime Emmy Awards as well as gave her the chance to experiment with her talents in music. Eva is not only an actress, she is as well a philanthropist and businesswoman. The actress has three marriages and has a daughter along with her husband.
